Banning, CA: Everyone Loves A Parade
Banning celebrated Stagecoach Days this morning with a parade through the downtown area. Local businesses, education, municipal government, public service, service clubs and veterans were all enthusiastically represented. The annual event, celebrated since 1957, kicked off the night before at Dysert Equestrian Park with a PRCA rodeo and concert.
A highlight of the parade was seeing one of the antique carriages recently purchased by the city hitched up to horses and on display, carrying Council Member Reuben Gonzalez and his family.
I can’t remember how many parades I covered as a community newspaper photojournalist, something that always seemed to provide great local cover art for the next day’s paper. I can’t say I ever didn’t thoroughly enjoy covering them. Everyone loves a parade.
