BANNING, Calif (Dec 29, 2020) Snow-covered San Bernardino Mountains tower over the City of Banning seen from a turnout on Hwy 243. Banning is a city in Riverside County, CA, located in the San Gorgonio Pass, and is named for Phineas Banning, stagecoach line owner and the “Father of the Port of Los Angeles.” With a population of 29,603 according to the 2010 Census, Banning is approximately 80 miles east of downtown Los Angeles and 30 miles west of Palm Springs, connected to each by freeway and railroad.
