Vintage car aficionados flocked to Old Town Banning on Friday for the first “Hot August Nights” car show.

Sponsored by the Banning Chamber of Commerce and held concurrently with Banning Market Night, the event featured displays of vintage automobiles from across the Inland Empire, including the beautiful 1956 Chevy Belair displayed by Mike Mendoza of Colton, Calif., above, as well as participation by members of the Palm Springs Cruisin’ Association.

Kalei Hopps, of Palm Springs, Calif., right, danced up a storm with daughters Presleigh, age 3, in the her arms, and Leilana, age 4, to the tune of “Steamroller Blues” performed by guitarist-vocalist Jerry Boquette, who bills himself as the “Human Juke Box.”

The well-attended event provided a welcome relief for many eager to escape their homes and stroll along Ramsey Street as the Coronavirus pandemic continues.
