Without any formal Veterans Day assignments, I ventured out to the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System (VAGLAHS) campus in West LA, for a self-assignment to make some pictures during their inaugural “Veterans Parade: LA” event. A combined effort of Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veteran Affairs, United War Veterans Council and The American Legion, with generous support from VAGLAHS Public Affairs, the parade featured dignitaries, veterans groups, military supporters and former Los Angeles Dodgers manager Tommy Lasorda as grand marshal. VAGLAHS communications chief Christine Pons narrated the parade, rivaling Stephanie Edwards’ annual Rose Parade performances.
